How to Get Rid of Limiting Beliefs - FAST!
What are limiting beliefs?
Limiting beliefs are thoughts or false ideas that you feel are true at some level, cause unwanted results in your life and LIMIT you in some way.
They can stop you from doing what you want by making you think, feel and act in ways that lead you away from your goals, away from happiness, away from love and success.
Examples of limiting beliefs
The most common limiting beliefs that come up normally cause anxiety and low confidence. They're usually what we call Core Beliefs. These are formed early in childhood, often before the age of 8 or 9 years old.
Core beliefs have a strong impact on self-esteem, motivation, and relationships.
Core beliefs often start with "I am", "people are" and "the world is" and usually end with something negative.
Such as:
- I am not enough, and many variations of this like I'm not smart enough, not attractive enough, not rich enough, tall enough, or good enough.
- I am a failure, a loser, a fake, or a fraud.
- I'm unlovable.
- People are dangerous.
- People can't be trusted.
- The world is not a safe place.
and many more.
Sometimes limiting beliefs cause you to do things that are harmful to yourself or others.
They influence your thoughts and cause unwanted feelings, and without the right coping strategies or a support system, often trigger self-sabotaging behavior.
Common self-sabotage patterns caused by limiting beliefs
- Procrastination - putting off something important until it's too late, or doing other things that you enjoy more instead of doing what needs to get done.
- Over-thinking and catastrophizing - making it out to be worse than it is, which causes stress and leads to triggering even worse behaviors too.
- Jealousy, insecurity and possessiveness in relationships.
- Avoiding risk and an irrational fear of failure, missing opportunities, and just not showing up and being your best or getting what you deserve.
- Anger and rage, especially as a means of controlling others. This one is particularly harmful as it leads to broken hearts, broken homes, and in extreme cases, even physical violence.
Techniques to get rid of limiting beliefs
There are a number of techniques that work it's not a "one size fits all". There is no silver bullet technique that works for everyone all the time. That being said, it's important to know which technique to use and when to use it.
Here are a few that I use with my clients:

- The Lefkoe Method (Lefkoe Belief Process) developed by Morty Lefkoe.
